Mentoring
As the youngest major city in Europe, Birmingham is home to a vibrant and dynamic youth population. In response, we continue to offer mentoring services to young people. This initiative was started in 1962 by Sufi Abdullah (RA), with the aim of supporting ethnic minority communities to become invaluable contributors to society across the UK.
Hundreds of mentees have benefitted from the programme, and we continue to support many more each year. Some of our current volunteers are former mentees who now give back to the community through our various initiatives.
Highlight: One mentee was initially reluctant to pursue A-Levels at college. However, through the support and guidance provided, he decided to continue with his studies. This led to him securing a place at Aston University—one of the most prestigious institutions in the country. He later shared that he felt he had made the right choice in the end!
