Supporting Victims of Islamophobic Attacks
With Muslims being the most frequently targeted group for hate crimes, our team has received specialist training from a West Midlands Police Hate Crime Officer to support victims and report incidents of hate crime. This has enabled us to act as a Third Party Reporting Centre within the community.
If a member of the community experiences an Islamophobic attack or any other hate crime, they can ask us to report it on their behalf. We also provide advice, emotional support, and practical guidance to help them through what can be an incredibly difficult time.
In addition, a member of our team regularly represents the organisation on the West Midlands Hate Crime Panel, following an invitation from its organiser, the Crown Prosecution Service. While this work is still in its early stages, it offers an important opportunity to raise concerns and advocate on behalf of victims of Islamophobic attacks and hate crimes motivated by ethnic background.
