Understanding Autism

With the number of children in Birmingham diagnosed with autism higher than the national average, Barnardo’s has partnered with us to deliver a unique five-week Cygnet training programme. The programme is designed for parents of children with autism, or those awaiting an assessment for a diagnosis.

The Cygnet training helps parents to better understand and support their child’s behaviour, while also recognising and appreciating sensory differences. Upon completion of the programme, parents receive a certificate of participation.

Parents have found the programme extremely beneficial. As a result, many have been able to put effective techniques in place to support their child’s development. It has also enabled them to explain their child’s behaviours to other family members, helping them to better understand and respond with empathy.
